Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve Impingement

Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve impingement, also known as meralgia paresthetica, is a condition where the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) becomes compressed or irritated, leading to sensory disturbances in the outer thigh. The LFCN is responsible for supplying sensation to the skin on the lateral aspect of the thigh but does not control any muscles. The LFCN arises from the lumbar plexus, specifically from the L2 and L3 nerve roots.
